Most people place a high value on their own particular customs during festive periods. Whether it’s sharing a meal, giving gifts, or going to a party, the holidays provide a rare opportunity to put behind the hectic pace of everyday life and spend time with loved ones.
For some, spending the holidays away from one’s family may be a bittersweet experience, but that’s not the case in our independent living community in Tarrant County, TX. Residents and their loved ones along with our team members all get together to celebrate the holidays here.
Interesting and entertaining things to do are provided, and many of them continue right up until the New Year. Here are some of the ways we help our residents enjoy the holiday seasons in our community.
We Celebrate Holidays Together
Being part of a community where no one has to celebrate the holiday season alone is a major perk of our community. There are people around you that make you feel like you belong, some of which you have probably made friends with.
Your loved ones are allowed to come around to spend the holiday season with you. If you don’t have any relatives living nearby, you may still be invited to spend time with a neighbor’s family.
A lonesome holiday season can be tough on anyone that has to experience it especially if it is because they don’t have family or friends in town to celebrate with. But with the help of our team members, the residents of our retirement community view themselves as part of a larger family which takes away the loneliness.
Ensuring Residents Have a Good Time Within Our Community During Holidays
During the holiday seasons in our community, fun activities are made available for our residents to make sure that they enjoy the season. Their loved ones are also welcome at any time to take part in these activities. For instance, children are allowed to tour the community to play songs and participate in door home decor contests.
Certain meals help us get into the holiday celebrations but having to cook can take the joy and fun away. With our senior living programs, particularly, the Sensations dining program, we take that stress away.
We Try to Celebrate Every Holiday
Knowing that residents may observe a wide variety of religious and cultural holidays, celebrations in our retirement community aren’t limited. We have a comprehensive year-round events calendar as we make an effort to be inclusive of all holiday festivities.
We make it a point to observe any and all holidays that we can locally. Since we have Jewish residents, we observe Hanukkah, but we also hold Easter events and the Fourth of July parties, in addition to doing our best to mark every single holiday with appropriate observances.
In conclusion, our community recognizes the importance of holidays, especially as a time for friends and families to get together. We try our best to ensure that our residents and their loved ones find our community to be a joyful and memorable space to spend this time together.
