Dear Patricia Farris and Morada Family,
Morada Albuquerque exceeded every criteria I considered for how to address Dad’s needs when it was clear that living alone at 99+ was no longer a safe nor healthy option. I highly valued the following 12 features, not in any order of priority:
1) Open, well-lit apartments with a variety of sizes, layouts, and views. Dad thoroughly enjoyed both watching for his pet friends in the Koi Pond courtyard and seeing the airplane vapor trails from his 3rd floor apartment.
2) Safety first, from key and card lock access to hallway handrails, resident call buttons, disability accommodations and personal assistance.
3) Common areas easily accessed on the 3rd floor, including a well-stocked library, Chapel, movie theater, larger group activities room, billiard and game room, as well as a coffee shop style kitchen area, and the gym.
4) Ample and well served dining areas, with kitchen and wait staff that were always attentive to residents and guests. There was also an adjacent dining room that could be reserved for more intimate family gatherings or meeting space.
5) Terrific on-site nursing, medication aides, and care giving team members, coordinating everything from health fairs and blood pressure screening to vaccination clinics and individualized care plans to meet resident needs. As family, living out of state, I could always be assured of timely and clear communication whenever Dad’s needs changed.
6) A reliable and dependable, hardworking housekeeping staff. The entire facility always looked like new, with a weekly scheduled laundry and in-room cleaning service that was top notch.
7) Maintenance and landscaping crews kept the grounds looking sharp, and common areas, like the fountain, always a pleasure to visit.
8) Did I mention allowing pets? Dad always enjoyed giving ear scratches to residents’ dogs, and they seemed equally happy with that attention.
9) Front Desk and Business Staff always felt more like family than staff, even when multitasking. They always had warm welcomes and respond promptly to resident/family/visitor requests.
10) Activities coordinated by on-site employees run the gamut from art projects and bingo to chair volleyball, and Happy Hour! I’m sure many are looking forward to the return of scenic tours and group outings as well.
11) Even during the height of the COVID pandemic, the entire facility rose to the challenge of keeping residents safe and healthy.
12) Dad and I enjoyed every part of his 3 1/2 years at Morada Albuquerque. When I turn 99, or simply get tired of maintaining a house, I hope they’ll reserve a room for me to come back “home.”
Respectfully,
–Dr. Elaine M., on behalf of Robert R. (Dad)

When I moved, I knew most of the residents because my singing group performed here for years. I like the location. I’ve made many friends here at Morada Albuquerque. They have the best staff in town and the best food in town.

On behalf of my family, I would like to express how deeply we appreciate the support and care my mother, Elaine McGivern, has received from the entire Life Guidance staff. The compassion and professionalism that is steadily on display at the facility has been a blessing for our family in this difficult time. Considering your staff has had to endure the challenges of the Covid pandemic on top of the already rigorous demands of working with the memory care population, I truly cannot find enough words to express our gratitude.
-Tim
The team that cares for Dad at Morada Senior Living has the admirable ability to focus on the essence of his personality, rather than the short term conflicts that Alzheimer’s causes. The residents are treated as the individuals that they are, with patience, kindness and a friendly firmness that I, as my father’s son, have learned from.”
